Description

CONTEXT: We are preparing a Nature manuscript + 15-min talk. The repo has many figures already produced — we need a complete catalog so the synthesis architect knows what is plot-ready vs needs generation. TASK: Find ALL image/figure files (.png, .pdf, .svg, .jpg) anywhere under the project root. For each non-trivial figure produce one row in a markdown table with columns: PATH | TOPIC (which report section/topic it relates to) | CAPTION HINT (best guess from filename + nearby README/docs) | RESOLUTION/QUALITY (does it look publication-ready, draft, or exploratory) | LIKELY USE (main fig / extended / SI / talk-only / not-useful). Group rows by topic. Also write a short 'gap analysis' section noting topics from the report TOC that have NO figures yet. DO use: find, ls, file, identify (if available). Sample-read filenames in batches; do not need to open every image. For ambiguous filenames cross-check by reading nearby README files or matching paths to report sections. OUTPUT: paper_prep/surveys/SURVEY_FIG_inventory.md (markdown table grouped by topic + gap analysis). ACCEPTANCE: File exists, ≥80% of project image files cataloged, gap analysis section present.
