Description

Description

The grant submission is due TODAY. Reviewers may click through to poietic.life. Two things must land before public traffic arrives:

  1. Poietic PBC's public benefit statement must appear on the landing page. As a registered Public Benefit Corporation, this is the legally significant statement of mission. Erik confirms it lives somewhere under ~/poietic/ (likely ~/poietic/docs/).
  2. 'What we've built' card #3 still references the v1 drug-discovery competition (CLAUDE.md 'Key Files' section flags this explicitly). It must be rewritten for the v2 PHR methodology demonstration.

Project convention: notes for Erik go to ~/poietic.life/notes/.

What to do

Step 1: Locate the PBC benefit statement

  • Search ~/poietic/ (especially ~/poietic/docs/) for the public benefit statement. Likely filenames: incorporation docs, articles, mission statement, public-benefit*.md, charter, formation documents.
  • If multiple drafts exist, prefer the version filed with the state of incorporation (most authoritative).
  • Quote it verbatim. Do not paraphrase a legal statement.

Step 2: Update the landing page

The landing page lives at website/index.html (and a sibling index.html per CLAUDE.md). Confirm which is the one deployed via GitHub Pages from the poietic-pbc/poietic.life repo and edit THAT file. (CNAME → poietic.life.)

Changes:

  • Add a 'Public Benefit' section with the verbatim statement. Place it where it has visual weight — likely between the mission statement and the founder bios, OR as a clearly labeled block in the hero. Keep the dark monospace aesthetic.
  • Rewrite card #3 of 'What we've built'. Remove all v1 cancer/drug-discovery language. Replace with the v2 PHR methodology demonstration: a three-way comparison on PHR discovery in a defined pangenome region (WorkGraph-with-Erik-in-the-loop vs single-session agentic CLI vs solo skilled bioinformatician). One short paragraph + a link target placeholder.

Step 3: Style compliance

  • No em-dashes (CLAUDE.md rule). Use commas, periods, parentheses.
  • No 'PI' / 'lead PI' language.
  • Founder order: Erik, Luca, Vaughn — confirm not changed.
  • Single HTML file, no build step (CLAUDE.md design direction).

Step 4: Produce a note for Erik

Write ~/poietic.life/notes/landing-page-v2-update-20260501.md summarizing:

  • Where the benefit statement was found (file path)
  • The exact text used (so Erik can sanity-check against the filed version)
  • The before/after of card #3
  • Anything you noticed in the landing page that may also need v2-hygiene attention but was out of scope for this task

Validation

  • PBC benefit statement located with file path documented
  • Landing page updated with verbatim benefit statement section
  • Card #3 rewritten — no KRAS / cancer / drug-discovery / Boltz / RFdiffusion / DiffDock language remains
  • No em-dashes anywhere in the rendered text
  • Founder order Erik / Luca / Vaughn preserved
  • Note written to ~/poietic.life/notes/landing-page-v2-update-YYYYMMDD.md
  • Page renders (open in browser or quick HTML lint)

Constraint from Erik: Poietic PBC IS Erik Garrison + Luca Pinello + Vaughn Tan. There is no separate institutional entity behind them — no staff, no office, no executives. The PBC is the three of them.

Operational implications for the landing page:
    - Do not write copy that anthropomorphizes the company as a distinct actor ('Poietic PBC believes...', 'Poietic PBC is committed to...'). Either name the founders directly or write in plain first-person plural ('We build...').
    - The PBC benefit statement is what the three of them commit to do, not what an institution does. Frame the section accordingly when you place it.
    - 'Founders' and 'co-founders' are correct. 'Team', 'staff', 'employees' are not (yet).
    - Do not invent organizational structure (departments, leadership, advisors-as-staff) that does not exist.

Acknowledged. Auditing my changes for anthropomorphization. Revising the public benefit section lead from 'Poietic PBC is a registered Delaware Public Benefit Corporation' framing to 'We (Erik, Luca, Vaughn) registered together as a PBC' framing, and switching the mission paragraph from 'Poietic builds...' to 'We build...'. Will reissue commits.

Done. Reframed: 'We build...' (mission body), 'Erik, Luca, and Vaughn registered together as Poietic PBC. Below is the specific public benefit purpose the three of us filed with the State of Delaware.' (public benefit section lead), 'We formed Poietic PBC and structured it...' (built card #1), and added a parenthetical to the source attribution noting that 'The Corporation' in the verbatim filing refers to the three of you. Verbatim filed text inside the blockquote left untouched. Hero label and footer copyright kept the entity name (factual identifiers). Live at https://poietic.life (commit a83bf04). Worktree mirror at 6adea70.
